Department Overview

Over the years, the department has grown from fewer than 20 students to over 150, graduating more than 300 skilled professionals who are actively contributing to various sectors of the economy.

Our programmes are competency-based and structured to combine classroom instruction with practical training, industrial exposure, and project development.

Assessment & Certification

Assessment includes:

• Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs)
• End-of-term examinations
• Trade projects
• National examinations

All national examinations are administered by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

Progression between modules is subject to successful completion of the preceding module.

Diploma Programmes Offered

• The Department currently offers the following diploma programs:
• Diploma in Building Technology
• Diploma in Civil Engineering
• Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Power Option)
• Diploma in Food and Beverage Production, Sales & Service
• Diploma in Social Work and Community Development
• Diploma in General Agriculture

Each program integrates technical theory, practical training, entrepreneurship education, and project development to prepare graduates for employment, self-employment, and further studies.

Students undertake trade projects and business plan development in their final module under close academic supervision.

Industrial Attachment

All students complete a minimum of 330 hours of industrial attachment in relevant industries. This hands-on exposure enables trainees to apply classroom knowledge in real work environments and gain valuable professional experience.
